“I’M NOT RACIST. I SWEAR. MY BEST FRIEND IS BLACK.”
This is what I imagine is probably running through the head of Denise Helms of California as she sits in regret (yet not in remorse) at the words she posted to her Facebook page after the election last week.
“Another 4 years of this nigger. Maybe he will get assassinated this term,” are the words that she wrote on her Facebook wall.
Helms explained her words to a Fox40 reporter, now saying that “the assassination part is kind of harsh … and I’m not saying I would go do that by any means, but if it were to happen, I don’t think I would care one bit” and that she’s not a racist because she has friends of “many different nationalities.”
Right. You call the president a nigger, yet claim to not be racist? You call for the president’s assassination, then at the slightest hint of backlash, you decide to take it back? If you’re going to be a bigot and an idiot, then at least have the courage and decency to stand by your words. Denise Helms? You are a racist. You are ignorant and you are uneducated (based on how you speak, this is an assumption on my part). Don’t backtrack just because people are now confronting you with what you perceive to be an obvious truth based on your own words. That’s just cowardly. You wanna be a racist? Be a racist, by all means. That is your prerogative. But also be prepared to be fired from your job because of it (yes, she was fired from her job at Cold Stone Creamery) and be prepared to be investigated by the Secret Service.
But, for the love of God, don’t take back your words because you’re afraid. Take back your words because you realize they were wrong.
You can watch Helms’ feeble attempt at an apology here after Ben Deci of Fox40 asks her if she knows what the word “racist” means and if she thinks she is one.
