Unknown Mother Forces Toddler to Get Tattoo

29 Jan 2013   News, Video, WTF

Warning: Video contains images that may not be suitable for some people.

There is so much wrong with this video and so many questions that I have about what exactly is happening that I don’t even know what to say or where to begin with this.

According to The Daily Mail and The Sun (so take those with a grain of salt), this video shows a mother forcing her three year old child to get a tattoo, supposedly in Havana, Cuba. Another Dominican website claims that the people in the video are members of the religious cult Creciendo en Gracia (Growing in Grace International Ministry). According to the site, the toddler is being tattooed with the mark: 666.

Unfortunately, based on the video alone, no one really knows what’s going on or who these people are. After the video went viral this weekend, the Internet focused all its rage onto attempting to find out who the people in the video were, to no avail.

I hope that somehow these people are identified and that the little boy is taken away from whatever crazy home situation he may be stuck in and placed in a loving and stable home. No child should ever have to experience this sort of abuse.

Damn, that is messed up. I’d like to tattoo “child abuser” across the mom’s forehead.

    • TruuuV

Diagonally from right cheek to left side of the forehead, stops her being able to cover it with a fringe.

  • JohnnyBrillcream

We must ban all tattoo studios, it’s for the children, right??

    • TruuuV

No what we need are good tattooists to tattoo the bad tattooists HurrDurr.

    • L_Ron_Hoover

No, what we need are stricter tattoo laws that prevent such things!

      • TruuuV

Can’t we all just agree the only person to ever tattoo a child has always undoubtedly been mentally unstable and it’s all the crazy’s faults?

        • Conspiracy Einstein

          Well … I mean … yeah.

Where’s the outrage over infants and toddlers getting their ears pierced?

    • whycantwejustloveeverybody

umm, tattoos hurt way more than ear piercings. And a earring hole can close up tattoo removal is a bitch and leaves a scar. I am for neither

    • L_Ron_Hoover

I somewhat agree. I don’t believe in the argument that “this is worse than that” they are both useless and strange things to give to children.

      • Bling-Nye, the Daft Punk guy

It was a bit of a rhetorical question, regarding what people feel is socially acceptable to do with/to their children…

For example, who’s to say if the tattoo the child is receiving is an identifier that would aid in his return if he happened to be abducted by a child-slavery ring? Sounds far-fetched, but children are abducted by such people in certain areas of the world, often before they’re old enough to know self-identifiers like how to spell their last name (or even what it is) let alone their phone number or address, etc.. It’s used like a transponder chip.

I had my ears pierced when I was an infant, which is a common practice in Mexico. I don’t remember the pain – I don’t remember anything about it. I’m thankful that my mom did this at such a young age for me. I got my ears pierced with a second hole a couple of years ago and the pain was terrible, and the hole has since closed.

No memory of pain vs the pain I went through. Yeah.. I take the no memory any day.

      Tattoo’s however? I don’t agree with.

I’ve pierced my own ears a few times, it doesn’t really hurt that much if you know what you’re doing. Plus, it can undo itself. A tattoo can’t undo itself and generally hurts hella more than piercing ears. Except the tattoo between my shoulder blades, which really didn’t hurt at all. Weird, I know.

Regardless, none of these things should be done to a small child who obviously isn’t yet capable of making choices for him/herself. It’s doubly abusive if the child objected and the parent forced it on the kid anyway.

I was never saying it was a good thing, I was merely pointing out how cultures are different and what is determined to be socially acceptable by one, may or may not be acceptable to another. I’m not condoning the tattooing, I’m just pointing out there could be a lot more to the story than we know. It could be as straightforward as it appears, who knows. Anyone…?

  • Who Knows?

Am i the only one to draw comparisons to circumcisions? Or is it an apples and oranges thing? I see it as same sh*t, different pile.

    • Sindigo

No, you’re not the only one.
