Professional magicians talk about how the general public perceives magic in this new series from magicians Paul Wilson and Jason England. The general overtone is that magicians and their craft are widely misunderstood, which just makes me think of this.

All kidding aside, it’s an interesting look into the background of these entertainers. This video is just one of an entire series commissioned by magic store Dan & Dave to really shed some light on this forgotten art.

Really, though. The art of deception and altering human perception is a difficult one to master and those magicians who have taken it to the next level deserve our attention.

    Though they say video kills the magical element of magic the only aspect of magic I really “enjoy” is watching performances and then working out in my own time how they did it.

    For example, I can go on YouTube and watch a video of Dynamo bending a coin in front of an audience, minimise the window and attempt to work out precisely how he’s managed to pull off that trick.I then watch it for a second time and see if my hypothesis was accurate.

    I’ve never really been interested in the whole “Woaaaah, that’s so super amazing how you made that thing disappear.” side of magic but rather seeing if I can catch a person doing something they’ve trained specifically to hide from public view.

    I feel like i dont know anyone who thinks of clown nose big shoes or children performers when they think of magicians. Moreso people when magic is brought up my experience has been responses like “have you seen the prestige, magicians are fucking awesome”
