The Fine Bros put together this very serious and emotional video to shed some light on the topic of bullying. They showed teens this video of Amanda Todd, a 15 year old girl from Vancouver, BC who, after a couple poor life decisions and the subsequent extreme amounts of bullying and harrassment that followed, took her own life on October 10th, 2012.
The video went viral after the public learned of her suicide and Todd has since become a symbol for teens who have encountered bullying everywhere.
Watching the teens in the video above react gives me a small amount of hope for the future. It’s just a glimmer of hope, but their reactions seem mostly genuine and they seem to have a grasp on the entire situation, especially on how awful the internet trolls are who continue to post vicious comments and how the internet is, essentially, forever. It also, surprisingly, has one of the best explanations of what parents understand about the internet that I’ve ever heard (iceberg analogy, anyone?).
In any case, it’s an interesting look into the mind of teens when it comes to this subject matter, since it’s one that people their age tend to face on a daily basis.
