RIP Marty, Real Life Nyan Cat

Marty, the Russian blue hair that was the original inspiration behind Nyan cat, passed away last night after being diagnosed recently with Feline Infectious Peritonitis. Chris Torres, Marty’s owner, says that though the vet tried many treatments to save him, in the end it just wasn’t enough.

“Even with the medical treatment he received he still deteriorated quickly. I’ve been force feeding him and keeping him warm for three days. For a while today it looked like he was getting better, but unfortunately, at around 9pm tonight he got convulsions and passed on my arms. . .  I will really miss Marty. He was seriously just the coolest cat ever. I just couldn’t save him, ” Torres heartbreakingly tweeted.

In honor of Marty, Torres has posted a more somber tribute on Nyan.cat. You will not be forgotten, Marty.

    I still can’t see a video of Keyboard Cat without feeling sad for him having passed. RIP Marty and give a face rub to my two kitties who’ve passed on!
