    Not even had to watch the video to know the best solution, small amount of toilet paper in the toilet before you go. It’s mainly done to stop the “plop” sound but the fact it absorbs the hit means no splashback.

    I shall now watch the video and see if I was correct.

      But it’s dangerous to release that information to the public. Sure, it doesn’t matter if you don’t leave your house, but the last thing I want to encourage is for people to stuff MORE toilet paper into public toilet bowls.

        Oh you shouldn’t be using more than four squares (usually folded on themselves) and that’s a worst case scenario situation, usually two works.

        Don’t be overflowing public toilets people, shit is not okay.

      When I saw him lay the toilet paper in the water, I thought, Are you fucking kidding me, science guy? I figured that trick out when I was a kid! And I wasn’t even a very clever kid!

      Wow, I think I just unrepressed a memory of being taught to do this as a kid.

        Taught to do it seems ample reason to repress the memory, who wants someone telling you how to defecate correctly mid-crap.

        That being said, it’s a hell of a useful strategy, both for public toilets (no one present will hear you doing your business) or if you’re just really not a fan of the sound and paranoid other people will know what you’re doing. (The reason I began doing it.)

        In either scenario I’d suggest giving it a go. Ninja poopin’ – It’s a splash free time.

    Side note: The other weekend, I went on an input-rampage and watched all of the “Smarter Every Day” videos. This also led me down a path of viewing The Periodic Table of Videos channel. I had a horrible headache by bed time, but damned if I wasn’t also aglow from the multiple brain orgasms. Also, I kept viewing even after my head began to hurt: “Hurts..soo..good…must..watch..more!! OWWW! MMMMMM!!”

    The other solution is to not fill your toilet bowls so high. I don’t know why the water comes up so far in the US, but there’s the source of most of your splashback problem (US toilet bowls are much rounder and “flatter” than those in other countries).
