Like any girl who has dreamed of her perfect wedding day, having a dance with your loving father is something that you dream of. But when something tragic happens, like your father passing away from pancreatic cancer the year before your wedding, that dream becomes one that will never come true. Such was the case with Andrea.

Her family recognized that hole this would leave in Andrea’s special day and they decided to do something about it. Her brother sang and recorded the song “Butterfly Kisses” (pretty standard for the father/daughter dance at weddings) and Andrea danced with her grandfather, her two brothers, and her father-in-law.

Have some tissues handy.

    Oddly, it’s stuff like this that makes me happy I was never close with my parents. When they died, it didn’t affect my life at all.

          Though i’m personally really close with my family, we ended up unofficially sheltering a bunch of kids from an assortment of fun and exciting families throughout my childhood (mom had been abused as a kid and pretty much let any kid from a troubled home eat and crash on our couch for as long as they needed, occasionally 2 or 3 at a time), so I can see where you’re coming from. It’s amazing how often people fail to realize that not all families are good things o_O

    I opted to have a mother/daughter dance and surprised mom by selecting her and my father’s song. It was also their wedding anniversary. She and my father had married on that day thirty-two years earlier. <3
