Parents at the dinner table, this is what you are stifling when you tell your children not to play with their food.
Brooklyn artist/musician j. viewz, aka Jonathan Dagan, decided to get crafty with some veggies and some science to recreate Massive Attack’s “Teardrops” using electric currents and vegetables. How did he do that?
Using Makey Makey, a circuit board that translates signals into various media, Dagan was able to create those signals into MIDI commands, replacing the keyboard keys with vegetables that have now become a smorgasbord of a MIDI controller. The technology is all thanks to MIT grad students Jay Silver and Eric Rosenbaum. You can read more about it, along with an interview with Dagan, at The Atlantic.
So, listen as vegetables play some music. I sincerely hope he later turned it into an awesome stir-fry.
