Never challenge a child with a bet when the prize you are dangling in front of it is a furry little pet. You will lose that bet and be stuck buying a cat.
This is precisely what happened to Dan Urbano when he told his 7 year old son, Remi, that he would buy the cat that Remi had been pleading for if a picture of him and his sister pleading for the cat for more than 1000 likes.
Seems impossible? Not when you’re posting something about cats to the internet, along with a picture of adorable children.
Remi’s mom, Marisa, posted this photo along with the caption “Dan thinks there is NO way we can do this. I say there is. help us out. We really want a cat named Hairy Pawturr. If you can’t like, shares [sic]. Shares count too! Thanks so much everyone!!”
In less than 24 hours, the post surpassed its 1000 like goal. In less than a week, it has over 110,000 likes, more than 100,000 shares, and close to 10,000 comments.
Moral of the story? Don’t make internet bets that involve cats and cute kids. You’ll always lose.

Remi and his new cat, Hairietta L. Pawturr.
