DotD reader, Jane, sent us this video about her adorable kitten Pancake playing with his older sister, Sugar Tree:
Pancake is a very special kitten that was abandoned at the tender age of three weeks in a hot parking lot in Phoenix. He was lucky to be found and rescued by some good people before succumbing to heat exhaustion. I fostered Pancake, bringing him to my home a week later. He instantly developed a close and loving bond with my two year old Doberman Pinscher, Sugar Tree. The two become fast friends and inseparable. Growing very attached to Pancake and not wanting to separate them, I adopted him and he became a permanent member of the family. It’s wonderful having them; whether they’re cuddling in bed or gently playing, it’s hard not to smile with them around.
thanks, jane!
Oftentimes, we get story suggestions here that have funny videos, interesting news stories or weird stuff that seriously makes me wonder what you guys do in your spare time. But sometimes, there are things that cross my inbox that hit a place close to my heart. Such was the case with Build Africa and their Water Challenge quiz.
Clean water in developing countries is something that I keep a close eye on. It’s a basic human necessity that often gets overlooked in its importance. If every person in every city across the world had easy access to clean water, without having to walk 4 miles each day to get it or without having to settle for sub par drinking water, the world could be a much better place. Women and girls could go to school instead of spending the majority of their day tending to this chore. The overall health of individuals in these areas would increase in huge numbers. And all for something that most people can just turn a faucet knob for in the comforts of their own home.
Build Africa contacted me about an easy way that you can help. The Water Challenge quiz is something that you can take online and for each person that takes the quiz, £1 will be donated on your behalf to help end water poverty at rural Ugandan schools. On top of that, if you so wish, any donation you could make on top of that will be matched by Build Africa sponsors.
Seriously, it’s so easy. Click the link, take the 5-question quiz. It will take all of maybe 30 seconds. The cat video can wait.
M2Film created this TV spot for the Danish bus service, Midttrafik, with the goal of making bus transportation seem cool and exciting. Frankly, this ad just made me sad because I had my very first bus-riding experience to New York City a few weeks ago, and my bus wasn’t street at all.
