Is it 2015 or 1920? Hard to believe these types of things are still happening, and GoFundMe clearly wanted no part of this couple’s campaign to try and recoup the $135,000 they had been fined for discriminating against a lesbian couple.
Sweet Cakes by Melissa was ordered to pay $135,000 in fines for denying service to Rachel and Laurel Bowman-Cryer back in 2013. Aaron and Melissa Klein, the owners of the bakery, had refused to provide a cake for the couple’s wedding, citing religious beliefs, which a judge ruled violated Oregon’s anti-discrimination laws. The judge’s reasoning being that the bakery is not itself a religious institution (crazy how that works).*

“Do you bleed? YOU WILL.” Had to geek out for a second because I can’t wait till this movie comes out. That said, it’s always fun to see NDT get excited about science, people, and silly debates. Tyson also plugged his new National Geographic series, the science/pop-culture crossover StarTalk.
