Nemo, the 2013 monster blizzard, has barreled through the tri-state region, dumping massive amounts of snow in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Maine, and parts of New York. 650,000 homes were without power as of Saturday morning, with 300,000 of those in Massachusetts. Parts of Rhode Island had drifts that were over 5 feet high, while residents in other parts of the Northeast shoveled through up to 2 feet of snow.
Huffpo reports that five deaths are a direct result of the blizzard, including an 11-year old boy who died due to carbon monoxide poisoning as he waited in a running car while his father finished shoveling.
We hope all our readers in the Northeast are staying safe!
